Project Start | Hull District Heat Network

At Brebur, we are proud to announce our involvement in the delivery of the Hull District Heat Network, a major low-carbon infrastructure project being delivered by Vital Energi Utilities Limited on behalf of Hull City Council.

The scheme will provide sustainable, low-carbon heat to buildings across Hull city centre through a network of underground pipes. The system will harness energy recovered from waste heat and distribute it via a central Energy Centre located at Trippett Street, offering a more efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional heating systems.

Brebur is working alongside Etex and its associated companies — Remagin, Siniat and Promat — as well as Wharfedale, to support the successful delivery of the project. The collaborative approach brings together specialist expertise to ensure high standards of performance, safety and sustainability.

The Hull District Heat Network forms a key part of the city’s wider strategy to reduce carbon emissions and transition towards net zero. By providing a resilient, long-term heating solution for city centre buildings, the network is expected to significantly cut reliance on fossil fuels while enhancing energy security.

Construction works are scheduled to continue over the next three years. Project partners have committed to careful planning and coordination throughout the programme to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and visitors in the city centre.

Once complete, the heat network will play a pivotal role in supporting Hull’s environmental ambitions while delivering lasting social and economic benefits for the city.
