These Brebur boots are made for walking

Employees of Brebur and their friends successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and are very proud to have presented Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice with a £2713 cheque. A huge thankyou to everyone that has sponsored us and all those involved, some of which are still recovering!

The team started the 26 mile trek in Horton in Ribblesdale and within a few hours of reaching the top of Pen-y-ghent, high spirits prevailed. Whilst taking a quick break and admiring the magnificent views it soon became apparent that the distant peak was our next stop. Although the Sherpa’s and oxygen masks were nowhere to be seen!

An arduous 12 miles later with the Whernside Peak approaching, the enthusiasm had been replaced with creaking knees, blisters, and many expletives. However, the welcoming sight of our support vehicle boosted our spirits.

After a short break and stuffing ourselves with high energy scotch eggs and pork pies, everyone seemed happy and the banter within the group re-emerged, which thankfully carried us up the gruelling second peak.

We were now on what we mistakenly thought was the less taxing home straight until we saw Ingleborough looming above us.

The previous 20 miles had taken its toll on everyone and we really had to dig deep for the last push which involved a hair-raising scramble to our final summit (Certainly not for the faint hearted!)

The final hobble back down to Horton in Ribblesdale was hard going but the thought of a cold beer waiting for us encouraged our aching limbs to get us there.

Reflecting on our experience in the pub afterwards, a great sense of achievement was felt and we all agreed it was well worth the aches and pains we were all feeling.

The money we raised by everyone that kindly sponsored us will help support many children and families at the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
